“The French say you get hungry when you’re eating, and I get inspired when I’m working. It’s my engine”

“Some designers think they do Art, but they think other designers do not”

“I only wear the latest thing. It’s my job”

“I am a fashion person, and fashion is not only about clothes — it’s about all kinds of change.”

“My greatest problem in life is my indifference to the outside world”

Karl Lagerfeld (born Karl Otto Lagerfeldt on September 10, 1933) is widely recognized as one of the most influential fashion designers of the late 20th century. He has collaborated with a variety of different fashion labels, with Chloé, Fendi and Chanel the most notable. But with contracts with companies internationally, throughout his career, he has probably built the most complicated resume of any designer. Furthermore, he has his own labels, which he launched in the early 1980s, including perfume and clothing. He has also played a role in equipping leading artists.

Hat designed in 2009 by Oscar Diaz`s friend Henny van Nistelrooy

Story by Adam Štěch

The project called Il Cappello della Luce is a collaboration between Nistelrooy and the finest Italian hat maker Barbisio. The idea of the little bit surrealistic design is inspired by the film-noir style comics namely Frank Millers’s Sin City. The felt hat plays with the optic illusion of the shadow and light. Because in these films, the men are characterized by the strong expressive silhouette dominating by the hat with strong shadow. The London-based designer materialized this shadow into the design itself.

Very nice example of the different approach to the fashion, as well as illusionism in contemporary experimental design.

Bernd and Hilla Becher

Bernd and Hilla Becher are among the most influential artists of our time. For more than forty years they have been recording the heritage of an industrial past. Their systematic photography of functionalist architecture, often organizing their pictures in grids, brought them recognition as conceptual artists as well as photographers. As the founders of what has come to be known as the ‘Becher school’ they have brought their influence in a unique way to bear on generations of documentary photographers and artists.
